Flawless Photonics established itself in Luxembourg in 2021, specializing in the production of optical glasses, fibers, and components in microgravity. The company manufactures the Space FiberTM, an optical fiber made from a fluoride glass known as ZBLAN, created under microgravity conditions in Low Earth Orbit (LEO).

Flawless Photonics recently began producing fiber using ZBLAN aboard the International Space Station (ISS), resulting in nearly 12 km of high-quality fiber produced in space. Building on this successful experiment, it is the first company to achieve such a milestone in microgravity.

While the US headquarters focuses on the commercial applications of the fiber, the Luxembourg office is dedicated to production and includes 14 "machine builders"—ranging from space engineers and robotics experts to chemists—who work closely with NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA), among others, to create flawless fiber.

With almost 15 years of experience in the space sector, Hubert Moser serves as Senior Director of Engineering at Flawless Photonics, overseeing the Luxembourg office. He reflects on the milestones and achievements his company and team have accomplished so far.
